SUV vs Minivan Which Vehicle Is Right For You

There are a variety of vehicles on the general market today and each type has its own beneficial attributes which make it a good purchase for certain individuals. There are two types of vehicles in particular which tend to attract some of the same types of individuals and these are SUVs and minivans. Many of the individuals that are looking into the purchase of one of these two types of vehicles are looking for a high-occupancy vehicle and are trying to determine which vehicle is best for their needs. The following paragraphs will highlight attributes of both and perhaps help individuals to better decide which vehicle is right for them.

Seating Capacity

When individuals are in the market for a high-occupancy vehicle, they look to both the SUV and minivan as potential choices. Because both of these are larger in size with regard to occupancy standards than their normal car counterparts, the size factor attracts individuals to vehicles of these types. Therefore, size is a beneficial aspect of both the SUV and minivan although the overall size and seating capacity varies among makes and models.

Family-Oriented

The term family-oriented has often been associated with the minivan in the past. Recently, this term has also been used when discussing SUVs as they can seat more individuals than regular automobiles just as the minivan can. However, if one is looking to purchase a family vehicle that can fit into other categories besides the family-oriented one, then perhaps looking into the purchase of an SUV is a good idea. Although if one wishes to purchase a minivan due to the fact that it is family oriented, then a minivan might be better suited to that type of individual.

Fuel Issues

Another factor individuals should consider when they are looking into the purchase of either an SUV or a minivan is with regard to fuel mileage. Fuel issues are high on everyone’s list these days due to the high prices of gas that have been evident lately. For those individuals who view fuel issues as a serious concern, purchasing a minivan may be the best bet. It can be stated that in the contest between SUVs and minivans with regard to fuel mileage, the minivan will win. If individuals wish to get the best fuel mileage out of their vehicle, a minivan is the better choice of the two vehicles.

Safety

Safety issues are extremely important ones with regard to automobile operation. Safety on the road is something which all individuals should consider when purchasing a vehicle. The one safety issue that has been linked with SUVs relates to the incidence of rollover accidents. Since SUVs tend to be higher than most of the other types of vehicles, they tend to be more likely than those other vehicles to roll over when taking sharp turns, changing lanes erratically, etc. On the other hand, minivans tend to have less of an incidence of rollover accidents than SUVs.

As for safety with regard to size, SUVs may lead the pack on being safer in that regard. Because they tend to be larger in size than minivans, their impending structure may be able to handle more in an accident than minivans. It is important to note however that safety standards and statistics vary from vehicle to vehicle.

Storage Capacity

SUVs and minivans are also purchased largely at times due to their storage capabilities. Both of these vehicles have large rear components where large objects and a great deal of small items can be placed for the road trip. It is hard to state which vehicle has the best storage capacity as this attribute varies amongst the different types of SUVs and minivans. Therefore, if one is looking to obtain a vehicle for storage capabilities, they really cannot go wrong with either the SUV or minivan.

Environmental Issues

Environmental issues are widely discussed and quite concerning these days. Some individuals look to issues of this nature when contemplating the purchase of a vehicle. If one is looking for the best vehicle with regard to being environmentally friendly, then the minivan may be the better choice in some instances. Since the minivan uses less fuel than most SUVs, it emits less harmful gases into the atmosphere. Therefore, it can be stated that minivans may be more environmentally sound than many of their SUV competitors.

When looking for a larger vehicle with a high seating capacity, one really cannot go wrong with either the SUV or minivan. What the decision really comes down to is personal preference and identifying specific qualities that one looks for in a vehicle. By contemplating the previously mentioned factors, one may be better able to narrow down their choices and be able to decide whether they want to purchase an SUV or a minivan.

Tips for Finding the Best Insurance for Your Vehicle

Finding the vehicle of your dreams is just one part of the equation because after you buy it you will be required to insure it. So, when considering a vehicle you also need to consider insurance providers in order to end up with the best car insurance at the best price. There are literally thousands of insurance providers you can choose from and the last thing you want to do is simply choose to use your local insurance agent when you can do a little bit of research and find the best provider and save yourself hundreds of dollars on your monthly premium over the year. Consider the following insurance tips before you make a final decision and you will more than likely save yourself a lot of money and receive better service.

Compare
There are so many insurance providers there is no way you can compare them all. However, you can narrow down the list by asking friends and family members who they use, you can also compare policies on the Internet, and check out the companies running ads on television.

All you have to do is come up with the top 5 insurance companies from these locations and then sit down and compare them. The important information are their rates and the services they provide for the quoted rates. You want to compare similar policies to one another, not a liability only policy from one company with a full liability and collision policy from another. You need to compare similar policies in order to have a good comparison for the rates and what type of service you will receive. Be sure to also ask a lot of questions when you call for quotes because if you don’t know the answers to your questions you could be taking a lot for granted when it comes to your insurance policy. Only when all of your questions have been answered by all of the insurance companies will you be able to compare them adequately. More than likely you will see premium differences of hundreds of dollars for similar policies with similar services. This is not unusual in the insurance field, so as long as you have done your research and the policies and services are more or less equal you should buy the cheaper policy, enjoy the service and coverage, and save your hard earned money!

Your State’s Insurance Laws
Every state has its own insurance laws and in order to find the best insurance for your vehicle it would be prudent for you to research what your state requires in the way of insurance for your vehicle. Some states are stricter than others, so don’t just take for granted the type of insurance you will need. At the very least you will be required to carry liability coverage to protect others and their vehicles if you are responsible for an accident. However, many states do not require that you carry insurance for yourself, your passengers, and your vehicle. This is not a big deal if you are in an accident that is the fault of another driver because they will be required to pay for your damages, unless they are uninsured. And yes, this does happen. It is illegal to drive an uninsured vehicle in the United States , but it happens on a regular basis and these individuals are in accidents and there is no insurance to pay the victims. So, before you decide to forgo collision insurance you might want to consider this fact. If you don’t have collision insurance to protect your vehicle and passengers and are in an accident with an uninsured individual and can’t collect the damages, how will you pay to have your car repaired as well as medical bills? These considerations should be kept in mind when making the decision on what types of insurance you need.

Look Online
You already know to compare insurance providers, however you should know that many online providers offer rates that just can’t be beat simply because they reduce many of their costs by eliminating brick and mortar establishments by interfacing with consumers through their website. You will probably notice as you are comparing prices that many web only insurance providers have rates that are unbelievably low, however you are worried about fraud or not receiving the services you are paying for and frankly don’t trust the Internet. Don’t worry, there are a lot of other people in your shoes as well. Many Internet insurance providers are on the up and up, however there are a few out there that are not. As a result, when looking for an insurance provider online you want to search for one that has lots of good reviews and recommendations from past and present customers. This is not hard to find if you search one of the big search engines. Also, you want to look for certain features on the website like membership in professional organizations, secure transactions, and be sure to ask plenty of questions and talk to the customer service department to make sure they meet your needs. You want the online insurance company to be available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week because you never know when you might need them. So, test out their response at an odd hour just to make sure they are there and waiting to assist you. Then, when you are convinced the online insurance company is legitimate and offers great rates then you can purchase your policy while being assured the company will be there for you when you need them and you will save hundreds of dollars as well.

There are lots of tips to help you find the best insurance provider for your vehicle and these are but a few. However, keep these in mind when you are shopping for insurance and you will certainly find the best plan at the best rate for you. Many people say they don’t have time to shop for insurance, and if you are one of them then consider if you would do a couple hours of research to save $300-$500 on your insurance? You probably would, so that means you should do the research and save yourself the money that you would waste by not doing the research. When you consider it in those terms it is certainly a worthwhile investment of your time.

Fuel Economy The Most Fuel-Efficient Vehicles And Why This Is So Important

With the high gas prices which are readily seen on the market today, individuals who are looking to purchase a new car are perusing the options with fuel efficiency in mind. Prospective car buyers want to purchase a vehicle which really peaks their interest and is one which they truly desire; however, these prospective automobile purchasers may in fact be swayed should the vehicle which they are considering purchasing have inefficient fuel economy. There are a few different reasons why fuel economy is so important to car owners these days.

High Price of Gas

Recently, an alarming phenomenon has been taking place. In the last few months, gas prices have been increasing at staggering rates which has led to individuals rethinking their automobile purchase choices. For those people who are currently in the market for a new vehicle, the high price of gas that has recently been seen has pushed them to consider other, more fuel-efficient automobiles. As one never knows when gas prices will decrease, thinking in terms of purchasing a fuel-efficient vehicle may be on the forefront of a number of individual’s minds. The high price of gasoline is an important factor which individuals consider when purchasing a new vehicle or even trading in their old car for a more recent model.

Environmental Factors

Another reason why prospective car buyers may be looking into the purchase of a more fuel-efficient vehicle is due to the environmental ramifications that go along with certain gas guzzling automobiles. The less gas a car uses, the more environmentally friendly that vehicle is. There are a number of different types of pollution which are directly related to automobile use. Therefore, more and more individuals are looking into hybrid vehicles which utilize both electric and gas fuel components to make the car run and are more environmentally sound overall.

Having to Fill Up With Gas Less Often
How many times has one tried to take their vehicle as far as it could go on a single tank of gas so as to avoid having to stop at a gas station to fill up? Most likely the answer is quite frequently. Although filling the car up with a tank of gas does not take a long time to do, it is still an inconvenience to some individuals, especially those who are often running late for one appointment or another. Therefore, by purchasing a vehicle with good fuel economy, the driver will have to stop less often to fill up their gas tank and this in and of itself is something which pleases many individuals immensely.

Most Fuel-Efficient Cars in 2005
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) often compiles lists showing the vehicles with the best fuel economy based on a fuel efficiency gauge for both city and highway travel and are shown in a city/highway ratio. The EPA files these types of lists as fuel economy is quite relevant to pollution and other environmental factors. The following paragraphs will summarize the top 10 list of the most fuel-efficient vehicles which was compiled by the EPA for 2005.

The vehicles ranking in the number 10 spot of the EPA list are the Dodge Neon and Toyota Celica GT which both get 29/36 mpg. Those vehicles ranked in the number 9 slot are the Scion xB (31/35), Toyota Matrix (30/36), Pontiac Vibe (30/36) and Honda Accord Hybrid (30/37). Rounding up the number 8, 7, and 6 slots, respectively, are the Scion xA (32/37), Toyota Corolla (32/41), and Toyota Echo (35/42).

The top 5 most fuel-efficient automobiles contain quite a few from the same car manufacturer with the Honda Civic HX (36/44) coming in at 5 th place and three various types of Volkswagens, Volkswagen New Beetle TDI, Volkswagen Jetta TDI and Volkswagen Golf TDI, all coming in at 4 th place with a 38/46 ratio. As for the top 3 spots, these belong to the Honda Civic Hybrid (45/51), the Toyota Prius (60/51) and the Honda Insight (61/66).

One will notice by reading the list above that hybrid vehicles are often cited in the top 10 of all fuel-efficient vehicles. There are a few different reasons why choosing a hybrid vehicle may be the best choice for those individuals looking to purchase a new car.

Reasons to Choose a Hybrid Vehicle for Your Automobile
There are two main reasons why purchasing a hybrid vehicle may be in the best interest of the driver of the automobile and the people around that individual as well. The first reason for choosing a hybrid vehicle is due to its fabulous fuel efficiency. There are a number of different car manufacturers who have either come out with hybrid vehicles or are in the process of making vehicles of this type. Car manufacturers realize that fuel efficiency has a vital place on an individual’s car buying list of must haves.

Another reason for choosing a hybrid vehicle which is not only beneficial for the owner but for the general public as well is the environmental factors surrounding hybrid automobile use. The more gaseous fumes and toxins which are released into the air, the worse it is for the environment as a whole. Those who truly appreciate the fact that hybrid vehicles are more environmentally sound than other vehicles which strictly use gasoline as their main mode of power are ones who are more likely to purchase a hybrid vehicle. It is important to note that most hybrid automobile drivers purchase their hybrid vehicles due to fuel economy reasons as well. Car manufacturers have also responded to environmental concerns by producing vehicles which are of a hybrid nature and therefore much more gentle to the environment.

Choosing a vehicle which is fuel-efficient is an extremely wise decision. Not only will the driver of a fuel-efficient vehicle save a lot of money on gasoline purchases but will be doing their part to preserve the environment as well. These are two very valid reasons for choosing a vehicle which boasts good fuel economy.
